Ferguson2 11/21/2014 Ferguson, State Violence and the Media
As the nation awaits a decision from the grand jury in Ferguson, MO, activists and grassroots organizers understand that justice for Mike Brown and other victims of state violence is not only an indictment and conviction of Darren Wilson, but an indictment of the entire system. As part of the new Deep Dish TV project "The Myth of a Post-Racial America", activists discuss how racism persists during Obama's presidency, how the media is used as a tool to criminalize people of color, and how the events in Ferguson have raised the consciousness of a new generation of activists that are developing strategies to organize and fight systemic racism and oppression.
